Energy-efficient wireless sensor networks for acoustic condition monitoring

Wireless sensor networks are gaining momentum for a wide range of application areas. Acoustic condition monitoring is one area of interest that requires ultra low-power wireless sensors to monitor structures in buildings, airplanes, machines, or wind turbines. The presentation introduces the CoolConSens project that investigates in a cross-layer solution for ultra low-power wireless sensor networks to minimize the energy consumption of sensors from hardware to software for communication, data processing, and self-diagnosis. This facilitates CoolConSens to a system solution for reliable and maintenance free deployments of ultra low-power wireless sensor networks.
